January 2025 - Spain - Social Court in Donostia-San Sebastián Recognizes Employment Relationship Between Glovo and 168 Riders

A social court in Donostia-San Sebastián has declared that there is an employment relationship between Glovo and 168 riders in Gipuzkoa who were not hired and were apparently autonomous.

In 2022, the Gipuzkoa Labour Inspectorate issued several settlement notices against Glovo for failing to register and contribute for 168 workers between October 2018 and December 2020. The fines totaled €410,587.71, as the inspectorate determined there was a standard employment relationship, with the workers operating as employees of Glovo

Last December, after receiving several rulings against it, Glovo announced that it would change its employment model and employ its dealers in the Spanish state.
