California: Uber and Lyft Drivers Allowed to Unionise

California lawmakers reached an agreement with Uber and Lyft that allows drivers to unionise and bargain collectively while still being classified as independent contractors.

Under the agreement, drivers will have the opportunity to organise for increased pay and additional benefits. In exchange, legislation that reduces expensive insurance coverage mandates for ride-hailing companies will be advanced.
