United Kingdom - Municipal workers get 2.5% pay rise - January 31, 2026
More than 4,000 Doncaster Council workers are set for a pay rise worth millions after a GMB Union campaign win. From 1 April staff at the local authority will have their pay bumped up by 2.5% - reversing a cut imposed on them during the austerity years. Following a meeting with the Mayor of Doncaster, GMB Union announced the agreement to restore workers’ pay as part of the budget proposals and will recommend to the full council the funding package to support pay restoration.
