Spain - Unions propose 4% pay rise - January 31, 2026
Unions CCOO and UGT presented employers with a proposal for coordinated wage increases of at least 4% annually from 2026 to 2028. The initiative forms part of negotiations for the next multi‑year Agreement on Employment and Collective Bargaining (AENC). CCOO and UGT argued that inflation clauses and additional increases for low‑paid sectors are necessary to maintain real wages. Employer associations have not yet accepted the plan. The proposal would influence collective agreements covering millions of workers.
