Spain - Municipal agreement after prolonged bargaining conflict - March 31, 2026

On 26 March 2026, municipal workers in Mijas (Málaga) suspended planned strike action after reaching an agreement with local authorities to unblock a long-delayed collective agreement. The agreement follows more than two years of stalled negotiations and was facilitated through regional mediation mechanisms. It includes a 26% increase in overtime pay, a 20% rise in productivity bonuses, and commitments to stabilise temporary employment.
