Portugal - Protest against labour law changes - January 31, 2026
On 13 January 2026, thousands of workers demonstrated in Lisbon in a national mobilisation organised by CGTP-IN against the Government’s proposed labour law reforms, known as the labour package. The demonstration followed a general strike held in December 2025 and formed part of a continued union campaign opposing measures that unions argue would weaken collective bargaining, reduce job security, and increase precarious work. Workers from local and regional administration, health and social services, education and other public services sectors took part in the action.
