Portugal - Agreement for public sector - January 31, 2026
Public-sector unions affiliated with the UGT (Fesap and STE) signed a new multi-year collective agreement (2026-2029) with the Government. The agreement provides salary increases of € 56.58 per month or at 2.15% for public service employees, along with a rise in meal allowances to € 6.15 a day. The deal also introduces safeguards for inflation in future negotiations, aiming to protect real wages while maintaining fiscal balance. The Common Front, affiliated with the CGTP, was left out of the agreement.
