Hungary - Teachers’ salaries rise by 10% - January 31, 2026
After an increase of 32.2% in 2024, and 21.2% in 2025, the salaries of kindergarten, primary, and secondary school teachers will rise by a further 10%, the Parliamentary State Secretary at the Ministry of the Interior, announced. The State Secretary pointed out that teachers’ salaries had more than doubled in five years. He recalled that those who teach disadvantaged children had been granted an additional 20% increase and that a quality allowance had also been paid since September. With this increase, the average teacher’s salary is now over 900,000 forints (€ 2,300).
