Advancing a Just Transition with Open Supply Chain Data
Supporting trade unions in Indonesia and Türkiye to upload and use supply chain data on Open Supply Hub, strengthening due diligence and enabling collaborative action for a just transition.
Project Description
This project, implemented as part of Open Supply Hub’s Just Transition Impact Program, aims to strengthen the role of trade unions in promoting transparency and worker-centred outcomes within global supply chains, with a particular focus on Indonesia and Türkiye.
In the context of increasing demands for supply chain transparency and responsible business conduct, the project addresses the challenge that workers and their representatives are often excluded from data-driven transparency initiatives. It empowers trade unions to actively engage with production location data by supporting them to disclose factory information, understand how supply chain data can be used strategically, and participate meaningfully in transparency processes.
Through targeted capacity-building activities, including workshops and collaboration initiatives, unions are equipped to use data as a tool to strengthen worker rights, support collective action, and contribute to a just transition in global supply chains. In parallel, the project creates structured feedback loops between unions and platform developers, ensuring that workers’ perspectives inform the design, accessibility, and practical impact of transparency tools.
Case studies developed through the project demonstrate how supply chain data can foster collaboration between workers, brands, and other stakeholders, while highlighting concrete pathways for improving labour conditions.
WageIndicator Foundation plays a central role by providing direct support to unions on data disclosure, facilitating workshops, collecting and sharing union feedback to improve platform usability, contributing to the development of tools, and disseminating opportunities for participation.
Through this work, WageIndicator helps ensure that supply chain transparency initiatives meaningfully support worker voice and rights within broader just transition efforts led by Open Supply Hub.
