Family Responsibilities
Paternity Leave
There was no provision for paternity leave in the Labour Proclamation 2003.
Under the Labour Proclamation 2019, a male employee is entitled to 3 consecutive days paternity leave with full pay.

Parental Leave
No provisions could be located in the law supporting parental leave for new parents after exhaustion of maternity leave or paternity leave.
Flexible Work Option for Parents / Work-Life Balance
No provisions could be located in the law supporting work-life balance for parents or workers with family responsibilities.
Special Leaves
The Labour Proclamation provides for special leaves in the following cases: - Leave for Family Events: An employee is entitled to paid special leave in the following cases: - Marriage of the Employee: 3 working days leave. - Death of a Family Member: 3 working days leave on death of spouse, descendants (children), ascendants (parents/grandparents), brother, sister, uncle, aunt - Workers shall be entitled to unpaid leave for up to five consecutive days in case of serious - Union Leave: Trade union leaders are entitled to leave with pay for purposes such as: - Presenting cases in labor disputes. - Negotiating collective agreements. - Attending union meetings. - Participating in seminars or training courses. - The manner of granting such leave may be determined by a collective agreement. - Leave for special purposes - Witness or Voting Leave: Leave with pay for the time utilised to exercise voting rights or discharge obligations as a witness before judicial or quasi-judicial organs. - Educational or Training Leave: The manner of granting and the extent of financial assistance may be determined by a collective agreement or work rules.
A worker wishing to take leave under these provisions must notify the employer in advance and present necessary supporting evidence when requested.
