About the Labour Rights Index

The Labour Rights Index (LRI), launched in 2020, is a de jure index that compares labour legislation worldwide. Released biennially, the fourth edition of the Labour Rights Index will be launched on 6 October 2026, the day before World Day for Decent Work.

The Labour Rights Index 2026 updates our comprehensive analysis of global labour legislation and its alignment with international human rights frameworks and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It also expands the Labour Rights Index to 168 countries (from 145 in 2024) that are home to about 90% of the global workforce, enhancing our understanding of labour rights across diverse regions.

You can access all editions of the Labour Rights Index at https://labourrightsindex.org/.
