South Africa's Domestic Workers Get Wage Rise - November 30, 2015

The Ministry of Labour, South Africa, announced wage rise for domestic workers. 

 In terms of Sectoral Determination 7: the minimum wages will be adjusted upwards as follows:  

  •  an employee that works more than 27 hours in Area A should be paid not less than an hourly rate of R 11.44.
  • an employee that works less than 27 hours in Area A should be paid not less than an hourly rate of R 13.39.
  • an employee that works more than 27 hours in Area B should be paid not less than an hourly rate of R 10.23
  • an employee that works less than 27 hours in Area B should be paid not less than an hourly rate of R 12.07
