PREAMBLE\u003C\u002Fh2>\n\n\u003Cp>An agreement made on this 08 day of June 2011 between members of UFEA\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\u003Cp>And\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\u003Cp>The Uganda Horticultural and Allied Workers Union Whereas:\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\u003Cp>In entering this agreement both the Union and Employers appreciate that it\nis in their interest to have productive, continuous and reliable employment and\ngood service delivery to all concerned.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\u003Cp>The Employer and the Union hereto are desirous to maintaining good and\nnormal working relations in the flower industry, by introducing better\narrangement for wages\u002Fsalaries\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\u003Cp>The Employer and the Union having already signed the Collective Bargaining\nAgreement for terms and condition of service and now wish to sign the\nCollective Bargaining Agreement for wages and salaries (Phase II); the parties,\nNOW DO HEREBY MUTUALLY AGREE AS FOLLOWS:\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\u003Ch2>2. SCOPE\u003C\u002Fh2>\n\n\u003Cp>In this Phase II of the Collective Bargaining Agreement only wages and\nsalaries increment has been considered the most urgent issue to both concerned.\nThe rest of the items will be considered for future negotiations.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\u003Ch2>3. SALARIES AND WAGES\u003C\u002Fh2>\n\n\u003Cdiv class=\"cbaClause highlight\" id=\"clause-LOWWAGE_trigger\">\u003Cdiv class=\"cbaClause highlight focus\" id=\"clause-LOWWAGE_provision\">\u003Cp>It was agreed that the following salaries and wages be agreed on and\nimplemented immediately:\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\u003Cp>(a) Minimum wage - shs. 2,300 per day for employee of farms beyond lOO kms\nfrom Kampala and shs. 2,500 for employees of farms within lOO kms from\nKampala\u003C\u002Fp>\u003C\u002Fdiv>\u003C\u002Fdiv>\n\n\u003Cdiv class=\"cbaClause highlight\" id=\"clause-STRUCINCR_trigger\">\u003Cp>(b) Salaries and wages increase - employees of the lowest (general) workers\ncategory currently earning above the minimum wage should have an increase of\n10%.\u003C\u002Fp>\u003C\u002Fdiv>\n\n\u003Ch2>4. IMPLEMENTATION\u003C\u002Fh2>\n\n\u003Cp>The implementation date for the year 2011 will be 1st April, 2011 -31 March\n2012, and in future, wages and salaries shall be increased with effect from 1st\nApril starting from 2012 after fresh negotiations are concluded with the Union.\nWages and salaries shall be reviewed every year and negotiations shall take\nplace between January and March. All proven salary increases given after 1st\nSeptember 2010 shall be recognized to be part of this raise.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\u003Ch2>5. SERVICE CHARGE\u002FFEE\u003C\u002Fh2>\n\n\u003Cp>It was agreed that the employees in the Unionisable grades who opt not to\nformally join the Union, but continue enjoying the fruits of its activities\njust like the registered members do, will pay to the Union a one off service\ncharge equal to 10% of one's basic salary only with a written consent\n(voluntary) as is done with Unionized members.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\u003Ch2>6. \u003C\u002Fh2>\n\n\u003Cp>All companies shall meet with the Union at UFEA and harmonize best practices\nwithin a period of three (3) months.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\u003Ch2>7.
