In recognition\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\u003Cp>of their contributions, policies and programs have been developed to ensure\nthat our employees enjoy the\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\u003Cp>protection afforded by principles agreed upon in this document (the\n\"Principles\"). While these principles\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\u003Cp>are not new to Ford, they are vitally important to what we stand for as a\ncompany.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\u003Cp>The Principles are based on a thorough review of labor standards espoused by\nvarious groups and\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\u003Cp>institutions worldwide, including those outlined by the International Labour\nOrganization and stand as a\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\u003Cp>general endorsement of the following human rights frameworks and\ncharters:\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\u003Cp>•The UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\u003Cp>•The ILO Tripartite Declaration of Principles concerning Multinational\nEnterprises and\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\u003Cp>Social Policy\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\u003Cp>•OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\u003Cp>•The Global Sullivan Principles of Social Responsibility\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\u003Cp>These Principles are, however, intended to represent a statement of Ford's\nown high standards.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\u003Cp>The universe in which Ford operates requires that these Principles be\ngeneral in nature. In certain\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\u003Cp>situations national law, local legal requirements, collective bargaining\nagreements and agreements freely\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\u003Cp>entered into by employees may be different than portions of these agreed\nupon Principles. If these\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\u003Cp>principles set higher standards, the Company will honor these Principles to\nthe extent which does not\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\u003Cp>place them in violation of domestic law. Nevertheless, we believe these\nPrinciples affirm important,\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\u003Cp>universal values that serve as the cornerstone of the relationship between\nemployees and management for\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\u003Cp>us.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\u003Cp>Ford and the signatories to this document confirm their support for these\nPrinciples and for the\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\u003Cp>Company's Code of Basic Working Conditions, Business Principles, and\nCorporate Citizenship strategy.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\u003Ch3>Freedom of Association and Collective Bargaining\u003C\u002Fh3>\n\n\u003Cp>The achievement of business competitiveness, employee involvement and\nemployment security are positively influenced by good relations and mutual\ntrust between employees and management within the Company. This requires the\non-going cooperation of management, unions, works councils, employee\nrepresentatives and employees, ensuring that social dialogue at Ford be\ncharacterized by mutual respect and understanding. Procedures for information\nand consultation provide the opportunity for issues to be raised by either the\nmanagement or employee representatives to ensure that the views of both parties\nare fully understood.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\u003Cp>Ford recognizes and respects its employees' right to associate freely, form\nand join a union, and bargain collectively in accordance with applicable law.\nThe Company will work constructively with employee representatives to promote\nthe interests of our employees in the workplace. In locations where employees\nare not represented by a body of employee representation\u002F unions, the Company\nwill provide opportunities for employee concerns to be heard. The Company fully\nrespects and supports workers democratic right to form a union and will not\nallow any member of management or agent of the Company to undermine this right\nor pressure any employee from exercising this right.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\u003Cp>Cooperation with employees, employees' representatives and trade unions will\nbe constructive. The aim of such cooperation will be to seek a fair balance\nbetween the commercial interests of the Company and the interests of the\nemployees. The Company will seek to identify and\nutilize business partners who aspire in the conduct of their business to\nstandards that are consistent with this document and will provide the network\nan opportunity to raise issues for discussion and resolution.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\u003Cp>The Company conducts assessments of selected existing and prospective Tier 1\nsuppliers in multiple countries. The assessments provide feedback to Ford and\nsuppliers about how well they are meeting legal requirements and Ford’s\nexpectations. They also provide insight into the effectiveness of our training\nprograms. Assessments consist of a detailed questionnaire, a document review,\nfactory visits, and management and employee interview's, and are conducted with\nthe assistance of external auditors. Ford will review such assessments with the\nNetwork, as requested, in connection with its regular meetings and will respond\nto issues raised.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\u003Ch3>Sustainability and Protection of the Environment\u003C\u002Fh3>\n\n\u003Cp>Ford will respect the natural environment and help preserve it for future\ngenerations by working to provide effective and practicable environmental\nsolutions and avoiding waste. The Company will work to continuously reduce the\nenvironmental impacts of our business in line with our commitment to contribute\nto sustainable development.
