In September, \u003C\u002Fspan>\u003Ca href=\"https:\u002F\u002Fwww.elperuano.pe\u002Fnoticia\u002F244302-peru-con-la-inflacion-mas-baja-de-america\">\u003Cspan>inflation fell below double digits\u003C\u002Fspan>\u003C\u002Fa>\u003Cspan> for the longest period in the country's history and in the region as a whole. Annual inflation rate of 2.4%, recorded in April this year, was the lowest among the continent's major economies.  This indicator was lower than in Canada (2.7%), the United States (3.4%), Brazil (3.7%), Chile (4%), Mexico (4.7%) and Colombia (7.2%).\u003C\u002Fspan>\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>\u003Cspan>However, the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) \u003C\u002Fspan>\u003Ca href=\"https:\u002F\u002Fwww.infobae.com\u002Fperu\u002F2024\u002F01\u002F01\u002Fincremento-del-costo-de-vida-en-lima-supera-el-3-durante-2023\u002F\">\u003Cspan>reports \u003C\u002Fspan>\u003C\u002Fa>\u003Cspan>that in the Lima metropolitan area, the prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages are rising, as are prices in various consumption sectors such as restaurants and hotels, and education.\u003C\u002Fspan>\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>\u003Cspan>All cities reported price rises, with Trujillo, Chiclayo and Arequipa among the cities with the greatest variations. Most of the country's workforce is \u003C\u002Fspan>\u003Ca href=\"https:\u002F\u002Ffair.work\u002Fwp-content\u002Fuploads\u002Fsites\u002F17\u002F2023\u002F12\u002FFairwork_Peru_Report_2023_Spanish_EN.pdf\">\u003Cspan>concentrated in urban areas\u003C\u002Fspan>\u003C\u002Fa>\u003Cspan>.\u003C\u002Fspan>\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>\u003Cspan>Economists also stress that a \u003C\u002Fspan>\u003Ca href=\"https:\u002F\u002Fwww.infobae.com\u002Fperu\u002F2024\u002F09\u002F04\u002Fcanasta-familiar-en-lima-metropolitana-por-que-subieron-los-precios-en-lima-en-agosto\u002F\">\u003Cspan>typical family needs S\u002F 2,976\u003C\u002Fspan>\u003C\u002Fa>\u003Cspan> to cover its basic needs, much more than the minimum wage of S\u002F 1,025. A large proportion of Peruvian families have had to \u003C\u002Fspan>\u003Ca href=\"https:\u002F\u002Fgestion.pe\u002Feconomia\u002Fempresas\u002Fhogares-y-el-alto-costo-de-vida-9-de-cada-10-ajustan-gastos-y-dejan-ciertos-rubros-inflacion-ahorro-deuda-consumo-menu-familiar-gastos-jorge-gonzalez-izquierdo-universidad-del-pacifico-noticia\u002F\">\u003Cspan>reorganise their budgets\u003C\u002Fspan>\u003C\u002Fa>\u003Cspan> and are unable to save.
