Minimum Earnings Floor Introduced for On-Demand Delivery Platform Workers in Australia from 17 August 2026 - August 20, 2026
Australia has introduced a new minimum earnings floor for certain on-demand delivery platform workers, with effect from 17 August 2026. The new rates apply to covered employee-like workers engaged through digital labour platforms for the delivery of food, beverages, grocery items and similar goods.
The minimum hourly safety-net rates range between AUD 31.30 per hour and AUD 32.00 per hour, depending on the type of vehicle used for delivery.
The minimum earnings floor applies to engaged time, rather than all time spent logged into or available on the platform.
Note: These rates are minimum earnings-floor rates for covered employee-like platform workers and are separate from Australia’s national minimum wage for employees.
