Notes / Footnote

  1.  With the introduction of the euro in 01.01.2014 conversions were made and monthly and hourly minimum wage rates were increased by 35.43 euro (24.90 lats). There have been political discussions on increasing monthly and hourly minimum wage rates next year.
  2. Minimum hourly rate for teenagers and employees who are subject to particular risk is 2,209 euro since they are allowed to work only seven hours per day and 35 hours per week according to the Labour Law.
  3. Labour protection Law (effective since 01.01.2002.) defines particular risk like this: ''Special risk - working environment risks related to such an increased psychological or physical load or such increased risks to the safety and health of an employee which cannot be prevented or reduced up to the permissible level by other labour protection measures, only by reducing the working hours during which the employee is exposed to such risks.''
  4. Statute 2 (27.08.2013) states both the minimal wage for full-time employees and a set minimum hourly wage. The minimal wage for full-time employees is calculated on 40 hours in seven day period and 8 hours per day by the Labour Law ( Part D Working Time and Rest Time Division Six Working Time Chapter 31 General Provisions Regarding Working Time) (01.06.2002). Usually full-time employees work 8 hours per day for five days  and have weekends off.
