United Kingdom - Strike threat at uranium company ends after improved pay deal - September 30, 2026
Potential strike action by more than 200 URENCO uranium enrichment workers in Cheshire will not go ahead following an improved pay offer by the company. The workers, members of Unite, previously voted in favour of industrial action over a below RPI inflation pay deal of 4.1%. Annual pay negotiations with URENCO have always been based on the RPI rate of inflation for the previous September, which was 4.5% in 2025. Following negotiations with Unite, URENCO offered a pay rise of 4.5% backdated to January that was accepted by an overwhelming majority of the workers.
