Over 170 members of Unite working in the MetCC call centre and in the force’s fleet were due to walk out from 19 to 24 January in a dispute around pay, but this was postponed to allow them to vote on an improved offer from the employer. The dispute was a result of the fact that Met police officers had already been in receipt of a 4.2% pay rise, along with police staff and officers elsewhere in the country. However, Unite members at the Met were only offered parity in exchange for drastic and detrimental changes to their terms and conditions. Following negotiations they will now receive the 4.2 per cent pay rise in line with other police forces.

Read on: in English…

For more information, please contact Paul de Beer or Oana Ciuca, De Burcht (Scientific Bureau for the Dutch Trade Union Movement) p.t.debeer@uva.nl or the Head of communications at the ETUI, Mehmet Koksal mkoksal@etui.org.
