Turkey - Strike announcement at machinery company - February 28, 2026
Workers at the Totomak machinery company in İzmir prepared for possible strike action during February 2026 after failed negotiations on a new collective agreement. The workforce is organised in the Birleşik Metal-İş union, which rejected the employer’s proposal of a 21% wage increase as insufficient. According to union representatives, if no compromise is reached the workers planned to begin a strike on 26 February 2026. The union stated that negotiations remained open but warned that workers were ready to use their legal right to strike if talks continued to stall.
