Sweden - White-collar union demands real wage growth and shorter working hours - September 30, 2026
On 29 September, the council of Unionen, the largest white-collar union, adopted its priorities for the 2027 bargaining round. The decision is based on a record member consultation with more than 21,000 participants. The priorities are higher real wages, further reductions in working time and more union influence over pay-setting. Unionen explicitly rejected employers' calls for wage restraint. The union suggests pay increases roughly in line with the 2025 round, when the agreed margin was 6.4% over two years. The industrial unions plan to present a joint platform in November and exchange demands with employers in December.
