Sweden - Pay transparency transposition delayed - June 30, 2026
Sveriges Ingenjörer union reported that the Government had not implemented the EU Pay Transparency Directive by the EU deadline of 7 June. The Government had announced during the spring that it wanted to pause implementation and instead seek renegotiation at EU level. The union warned that the delay could become costly for the country and that rules intended to strengthen equal pay rights would not enter into force on time. The directive would give workers and jobseekers stronger access to information on pay criteria, average pay levels by gender, and salary ranges during recruitment.
