Spain - Unions consider strike in metal sector - June 30, 2026

The unions UGT, CCOO, and USO are considering calling a strike in the metal sector starting in July and continuing throughout the summer due to the lack of progress in collective bargaining. These mobilizations, the unions explained in a statement, would come after seven months of negotiations, nine meetings, and four proposals submitted. Almost a month ago, they warned that the negotiations were at a standstill and that the employers' association, Fegame, had taken several steps backward. For this reason, they believe they are “obligated” to ask the 39,000 workers in the metal sector if they wish to go on strike starting in July.
