The protest promoted by the Railway Union is the first of two 24-hour strike days planned at Renfe — the next is scheduled for 15 July —, coinciding with the start of numerous holiday periods for workers. The origin of the labour dispute lies in the lack of consensus on the future of Renfe Mercancías.
