Spain - Railway strike - June 30, 2026
Railway company Renfe stopped operating a total of 320 trains on 29 June, due to the strike called by the Railway Union (SF). The protest promoted by the Railway Union is the first of two 24-hour strike days planned at Renfe — the next is scheduled for 15 July —, coinciding with the start of numerous holiday periods for workers. The origin of the labour dispute lies in the lack of consensus on the future of Renfe Mercancías. The union accuses the company of promoting a “premeditated abandonment” of this activity and rejects the creation of a joint venture with Medway, part of the MSC group.
