Spain - Pay agreement averts refuse strike - August 31, 2026

CCOO and UGT unions signed a five-year collective agreement covering workers in Calatayud’s refuse collection and street-cleaning service. The agreement with contractor URBASER followed more than eight months of negotiations and mediation, averting a strike planned for 12–18 August. The agreement, covering 2026–2030, provides a cumulative pay increase of 27.5%. It also improves the rotation allowance, increases compensation for permanent disability or death to € 18,000 and provides additional days for personal matters.
