Spain - National train strike ends after agreement - February 28, 2026
Railway worker unions SEMAF, CCOO, UGT, USO and Sindicato Ferroviario called nationwide strikes beginning 9 February 2026 to demand improved safety measures and better working conditions after recent fatal accidents. Following intense negotiations with unions and rail operators, the Government agreed to strengthen infrastructure investment and recruit additional staff. The agreement led unions to suspend further strike days.
