Slovenia - Third phase of public-sector wage reform - August 31, 2026
The Government implemented the third instalment of its multi-year public-sector wage reform, with roughly 87% of public employees receiving a boost in their June payroll and about 13% already reaching their final targets from earlier rounds. Under the mechanism, employees whose scheduled increase is under € 70 receive it in full, while those with larger increases get a 12% instalment, with a € 70 minimum. The reform, launched in early 2025, spans six total increases by January 2028. Union leaders met state officials to press for full implementation and sought clarity on the new Government’s plans for the public sector, after € 6.6 billion were allocated to public wages in 2025 alone.
