Slovenia - Firefighters and police officers threat with strike - February 28, 2026
Professional firefighters and police officers, are threatening strike action, putting added pressure on the Government. On 26 February, the firefighters' union gave the Government one week to sign a long-negotiated collective agreement or face a strike. Union leaders say the substance of the deal was agreed as far back as September, after years of talks, but has still not been formally signed. Both police unions set up strike committees amid a dispute over pay, working conditions and career progression. They accuse the Government of delaying key decisions.
