Slovakia - Equal pay act comes into effect - June 30, 2026

The Act on Equal Pay for Men and Women for Equal Work or Work of Equal Value, which transposes the EU Pay Transparency Directive into national legislation, will enter into force on 7 June. Companies must adapt to the new requirements by 31 July 2026. The new law was created on the basis of a European directive aimed at combating discrimination in remuneration and helping to eliminate the gender pay gap in the EU. The key point is that equal pay should apply to all components of remuneration that employees receive directly or indirectly from their employer in connection with their employment.
