Serbia - Public sector union seeks 15.9% pay raise - August 31, 2026

The Union of Administration of Serbia demands a 15.9% salary increase for roughly 150,000 employees in local government, state bodies and mandatory social-insurance institutions. The union said the proposal aimed to offset wage compression, noting that since January 2026 the minimum wage had risen a cumulative 20.5% while administration salaries increased only 5.1%. The union said it preferred raising base salaries outright but signalled willingness to negotiate coefficient adjustments through collective agreements instead.
