Serbia - Preschool union announces protest over unsigned sectoral agreement - September 30, 2026

The Independent Union of Preschool Education of Serbia, which has around 16,700 members, announced a protest in Belgrade for 10 October. Its symbolic slogan is "10.10. from 10 to 12 for 10 new and improved rights in the special collective agreement". The union is angry that the annex to the special collective agreement for preschool staff has still not been signed after eight months of waiting and six unsuccessful meetings. Its demands include mandatory medical check-ups and a more clearly defined minimum service level during strikes. According to the union, the Ministry of Finance rejected more than 80% of its proposals.
