Romania - Court declares planned strike illegal - September 30, 2026
On 17 September, the Constanța Tribunal ordered a halt to the indefinite general strike that the Oil Terminal union had planned for 28 September, ruling it illegal. The court partly upheld the company's claim against the union. A week earlier, on 9 September, the same court had rejected an earlier lawsuit by the company as inadmissible, allowing the first warning strike to go ahead. The union announced it would challenge the decision at the Constanța Court of Appeal. The workers are demanding a 6.5% wage indexation, which they say is provided for by law for profitable state companies but has not been approved by the Ministry of Energy.
