In recent months, Raiffeisen Bank, Societe Generale (BRD) and ING have withdrawn from the Romanian Council of Bank Employers (CPBR), which means, come May, 60% of banking workers – 30,000 people – will be without any kind of collective agreement to protect their rights and conditions. The three multinational banks together represent around 20% of banking workers in the country and without them the employers’ federation – CPBR – does not surpass the 35% threshold for a sectoral agreement, which sets standards for every worker in the banking sector.
