Portugal - Public sector on strike - March 31, 2026

On 23 March 2026, civil servants across the country staged a 24-hour nationwide strike, organised by the National Federation of Independent Public Administration Unions (Fesinap). The action affected central, regional, and local administration, with particularly strong participation in health and education. According to union representatives, the strike was driven by delays in performance evaluations, unresolved career structures, and demands for improved hiring and working conditions.
