Portugal - New collective agreement for private schools - September 30, 2026

After several months of negotiations, the teachers' federation FENPROF has reached agreement with CNEF, the confederation of private, cooperative and vocational schools, on revising the collective agreement for the 2026/27 school year. New pay scales will be phased in at vocational schools and private schools with state association contracts: 50% from September 2026 and the rest from September 2027. At the two lowest levels, pay will rise by at least € 50 in September 2026. FENPROF said this was "not the agreement we wanted." It accepted the agreement after a unanimous decision by a national plenary of members, who judged that rejecting it would be more harmful, since any future negotiation would then start from the 2022 agreement and the 2024 pay scales.
