Portugal - National protest against labour reforms - February 28, 2026
A national demonstration has been called for 28 February in Lisbon and Porto against the Government’s proposed labour-law package, with the mobilisation led by CGTP-IN. The union argues that the proposed reforms would weaken labour protections, expand precarious employment and undermine collective bargaining. The demonstration also raises demands for higher wages and stronger public services in the context of rising living costs. The protest follows an extended period of mobilisation. CGTP-IN recently delivered more than 192,000 signatures opposing the labour-law proposals to the Prime Minister’s office.
