Poland - Warning strike at social security institution - June 30, 2026
Employees of the Social Insurance Institution (ZUS) held a two-hour warning strike in offices across the country. The action followed a collective dispute over wages and staffing. Unions demanded a PLN 1,200 (€ 279) gross monthly increase for all employees, while management had offered PLN 220 (€ 51) gross plus a one-off bonus of PLN 4,000 (€ 931). According to the trade union Alternative, over 26,200 employees took part in the strike, out of the 36,000 who were at work that day.
