Norway - Oil service workers end month-long strike through arbitration - August 31, 2026

Safe union and offshore service employers resolved a month-long labour dispute on 14 July 2026, agreeing to submit their differences to voluntary arbitration. The conflict began 15 June when Safe called a strike after wage talks broke down and escalated when employers imposed a lockout affecting roughly 2,000 workers from 27 June. Major oilfield service companies were affected, and by early July the standoff had cumulatively cut the petroleum production by 2.4 million barrels of oil equivalent. Workers had rejected an employer offer of roughly 4.7% in raises as inadequate given sharply rising living costs.
