Netherlands - Union demands 5.5% wage increase - September 30, 2026
The largest trade union FNV is seeking a 5.5% wage increase, supplemented by an additional € 80, in collective agreement negotiations over the coming year. By including a fixed euro amount rather than demanding the entire increase as a percentage, the union wants to ensure that lower-paid workers receive a larger boost in relative terms. FNV is currently seeking a 6% wage increase for the season that runs through 1 December. The 5.5% wage demand includes automatic price indexation, which means workers' wages would automatically rise in line with inflation. FNV is also making equal pay for equal work a key priority in this year's collective negotiations to narrow the pay gap.
