Luxembourg - Unions condemn plan to shut chemical plant - August 31, 2026

Trade unions LCGB and OGBL jointly condemned Thai chemicals group Indorama Ventures’ decision to end operations at its Steinfort site, calling it "totally unacceptable" and warning that nearly 100 industrial jobs and families face severe uncertainty. The unions praised the workforce's "engagement, competence and exemplary flexibility" and accused management of prioritizing financial considerations over the employees who built the company’s success. LCGB and OGBL demanded urgent meetings with the economy and labour ministers to seek alternatives for preserving industrial jobs, pledging to mobilize union resources to defend affected workers.
