Luxembourg - Union calls for qualified minimum wage after ten years in cleaning - September 30, 2026
On 30 September, the OGBL cleaning union met the leadership of the Chamber of Employees (CSL) to push for greater recognition of cleaning work. According to the OGBL, cleaners still lack a structured and accessible training pathway to have their skills formally recognised. As a result, thousands of workers with many years of experience are not automatically entitled to the qualified social minimum wage. The union is calling for structured training and a change in the law so that ten years of professional experience clearly gives entitlement to the qualified minimum wage. The CSL has drafted a legislative proposal along these lines.
