Lithuania - New collective agreement for education and science - February 28, 2026
The Lithuanian Trade Union of Education and Science (LŠMPS), together with other trade unions representing education workers – the Trade Union of Education and Science “Solidarumas”, the Lithuanian Association of Trade Unions of Higher Education Institutions (LAMPSS) and trade union “Sandrauga”, signed the updated collective agreement for the education and science sector, which was signed on behalf of the Government by the Minister of Education, Science and Sports. This update of the sectoral collective agreement ensures a consistent increase in teachers’ salaries in 2026–2028: from 1 January 2026, +8.41%, from 1 January 2027, not less than the percentage growth of the national average wage, multiplied by 1.05. In addition, € 396.73 million will be required from the state budget for salary increases in 2027–2028.
