Lithuania - New agreement for social services - September 30, 2026
The Social Security and Labour Minister and five unions in the social services sector have signed a new sectoral collective agreement. It takes effect on 1 January 2027, runs for four years and can be updated each year. The agreement covers about 6,600 union members in 105 institutions. The previous agreement, signed in 2018, covered 35 institutions and about 1,000 members. Under the new agreement, social workers and several other job categories in public institutions who hold the second (higher) qualification category will receive a 25% higher base salary. Employees with at least five years of service get two extra days of paid annual leave, and two more after ten years. Parents of children under 14 get additional rest time. Union members are entitled to one-hour reduction in their working week at full pay.
