Italy - Social partners discuss strengthening collective bargaining - February 28, 2026
Trade unions and employer organisations held meetings in February 2026 aimed at strengthening the framework for collective bargaining and labour-market regulation. According to union sources, representatives met with the employers’ association Confapi to discuss developments in the labour market and the role of sectoral agreements, particularly in the craft and service sectors. The discussions also addressed the problem of “contract dumping”, where competing collective agreements create fragmentation in labour standards. In addition, unions opened negotiations with cooperative sector organisations including Confcooperative, Legacoop and AGCI to update earlier inter-confederal agreements from 2015 and 2018.
