Italy - New agreement for the public health sector - August 31, 2026

Public healthcare agency Aran and trade unions signed the 2025–2027 collective agreement for the health sector on 29 July 2026, covering 592,638 public health workers. The agreement delivers an average monthly rise of € 209, rising to € 240 (over 8%) for nursing staff, plus a € 100 emergency-room indemnity, with retroactive payments averaging € 1,226 (€ 2,300 for nurses) calculated through October 2026. The contract also introduces new AI governance rules, requiring advance notice to staff about automated systems' purposes and data use and barring fully automated employment decisions. Unions FP CGIL, CISL FP, UIL FP and FIALS backed the deal, though Nursing Up and FNO TSRM raised concerns over pay disparities between professional groups.
