Italy - National transport strike - January 31, 2026
The country experienced nationwide transport strikes affecting airports, rail services and urban transit networks as unions protested against insufficient wage offers. The coordinated action was organised by several national trade union federations demanding higher pay and better working conditions. Workers argued that inflation had significantly reduced the real value of salaries negotiated in previous collective agreements. The strikes caused widespread disruption but were accompanied by minimum-service guarantees required under law.
