Italy - Metalworkers strike - September 30, 2026
The metalworkers' unions Fim Cisl, Fiom Cgil and Uilm Uil, together with the works councils, called an eight-hour national strike at the IT and cybersecurity company Zenita on 30 September, with a protest outside the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy (MIMIT) in Rome. The action is directed against a reorganisation that would transfer 137 employees from Florence, Modena, Naples, Turin and Sicily to Milan, Rome and Salerno. The unions call these transfers "disguised dismissals", pointing out that the company formally announced them on 25 August through a collective dismissal procedure. They accuse the ministry of underestimating the dispute. They argue that MIMIT is the right place for talks because the state is a minority shareholder in Zenita.
