The unions FP CGIL, CISL FP and UIL FPL organised the action to protest against the lack of collective agreements, reporting a participation rate of 70%. Private healthcare workers have been without a renewed agreement for eight years, while those in residential care homes have waited fourteen years. The unions state the delay has caused a significant wage gap compared to the public sector, where three renewals have occurred in the same period.
