Italy - Electronics company staff strike - September 30, 2026
Unions Filcams CGIL, Fisascat CISL and Uiltucs called a national strike of Apple Retail Italia staff for the full shift on 18 September, the day the new iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max went on sale in the country. The strike involves about 1,600 workers in 17 stores. Pickets were planned outside the flagship stores in Rome and Milan. The unions called the strike after Apple rejected their proposals to hire more staff, convert fixed-term contracts into permanent ones and let part-time workers voluntarily increase their hours. Apple had only increased fixed-term hiring. Workers have long complained of staff shortages, strong productivity pressure and growing workloads.
